The Munroe Road Masters and the Central Trinidad Touring Team are now Champions of the NLA SVG Independence International Masters T20 Cricket Festival, Fete Division and Festival Shield Division Respectively.
Munroe Road Masters made their way to the Final of the Fete Division after defeating Sarasota International Cricket Club by 8 wickets view scorecard. They faced the Prime Minister’s XI who defeated the North Leeward Masters in their semi-final by 12 runs View Scorecard. In the Final the Prime Minister’s XI won the toss and elected to field. The Munroe Road Maters were restricted to what seemed like a gettable 131 for 7 in 20 overs. Anil Barlo getting 43 from 34 balls and Rajnarine Ragoonath 39 from 44 balls. Dexter Small, Arrington Burgin and Leroy Douglas picked up two wickets each for the Prime Minister’s XI. The Prime Minister’s XI could only muster 119 all out in reply. A late blast of 35 from17 balls from Arrington Burgin was the only score of note. Continuing their unbeaten run in this year’s festival Central Trinidad Touring Team made light work of the Mustique Company Maters in that semi-final match up, winning by 47 runs and earning their place in the final view scorecard. They faced East Masters who made their way past the defending champions North East Masters by 15 runs at Park in that semi-final encounter view scorecard.
The final, a battle of two undefeated Trinidad teams seemed foregone conclusion when the usually high scoring Central Trinidad Team was restricted to 115 for 7 in 20 overs. Rajendra Mangalie scored 36 from 31 balls and Syed Mohammed 20 from 17 balls. Bowling for East Masters Dale Douglas too 3 for 15 in 4 overs and Imtaz Rojan took 2 for 14 from 4 overs. East Masters T&T could only muster 93 for 8 in their 20 overs. Darin Modeste top scored with 15. Ryan Jones and Kenneth Hazel bagged two wickets each, piling on the pressure on East Masters.
