Despite our many reaches and challenges, the National Sports Council remains single-minded in its commitment and dedication to enhancing our sporting product. We are eager to bring world-class sporting events to our facilities. We are aware that with the appropriate sporting facilities, coupled with an abundance of talent that already exist and is evident in our recent history, we can, and will, produce home-grown sporting icons and role models and create an international recognition of St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a manufacturer to world-class sporting action.

Strategically, the Board of Directors continue to seek out avenues for the overall development of sports and our athletes and other stakes holders will hear and see some of these in the near future.

My Board is also pleased to facilitate the government’s mandate for a healthier life-style for its citizens. Involvement in sport has many benefits for us all – no matter where we come from or our age or status. Participation in sports, and physical activities in general, creates significant personal and community assets; it makes for a healthier St. Vincent & the Grenadines. Amongst other things, it teaches patience, endurance, teamwork, an ability to lose graciously and to win with much celebration yet remain humble; it therefore manifests in better persons and better communities.

 I speak for my entire board, in stating that there is little that gives us greater satisfaction than to see the great number of our citizens that use our playing fields and other facilities on a daily basis participating in healthy life-style activities. To observe our future superstar participating in sport activities at our facilities, keeping them away from violence and illegal activities is heart-pleasing. We are however aware that more needs to be done to make available the infrastructure to further encourage more of our youths in sports.

The National Sports Council wishes to thank all its stakeholders for their commitment towards the development of sports over the years. Special mention however must be made to the National Lotteries Authority, the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture, the Ministry of Finance and the Corporate sector in general. We look forward to even greater support as we work together to build our sporting product.

I wish to pass my sincere gratitude to my predecessors for their contribution to sport during their time in office and to also acknowledge and pay homage to all retired and departed sports leaders whose leadership has inspired and shaped our sporting development over the years.

Finally, on behalf of the entire Board of Directors we wish recognize the contribution of all the staff at the National Sports Council for their hard work and dedication over the years.

May God continue to bless us all with excellent health, a strong will and an unshakeable determination to further enhance sports throughout our entire St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
