Jack House New ATHLETIC Champions of WSGSS

Both Williams and Kareem Davis of Hypolite House were the Victrix and Victor Ludorum respectively when the West St George’s Secondary School held it's Track Meet last week Friday at the Arnos Vale Playing Field.

Williams with 37 points was also the Junior Girls Champ while Kareem with 31 was the Boys Junior champ.
Ariella Brown of Hypolite House with 26 points was named the Intermediate girls champion and Davids Holder of Telfer House with 15 points the boys champion!

The Senior girls champion went to Kalice Franklyn of Jack House with 21 points while O-zem Olliver of Jack House and Jessie Edwards of Stephens House with 22 points tied for the Senior Boys Title.

Jack House (Red) with 463 points are the new athletic champions, second was Stephens House (Green) with 423 points, Hypolite (Yellow) is third with 407 points while last year’s champions Telfer House had to settle for the cellar position.

Some Forty-six events were completed at last Friday’s school meet.

The Munroe Road Masters and the Central Trinidad Touring Team are now Champions of the NLA SVG Independence International Masters T20 Cricket Festival, Fete Division and Festival Shield Division Respectively. 

Munroe Road Masters made their way to the Final of the Fete Division after defeating Sarasota International Cricket Club by 8 wickets view scorecard. They faced the Prime Minister’s XI who defeated the North Leeward Masters in their semi-final by 12 runs View Scorecard. In the Final the Prime Minister’s XI won the toss and elected to field. The Munroe Road Maters were restricted to what seemed like a gettable 131 for 7 in 20 overs. Anil Barlo getting 43 from 34 balls and Rajnarine Ragoonath 39 from 44 balls. Dexter Small, Arrington Burgin and Leroy Douglas picked up two wickets each for the Prime Minister’s XI. The Prime Minister’s XI could only muster 119 all out in reply. A late blast of 35 from17 balls from Arrington Burgin was the only score of note. David Ramsingh picked up 4 wickets for 16 runs to secure victory by 12 runs and the winner’s purse for Munroe Road Masters View Full Scorecard. 


Continuing their unbeaten run in this year’s festival Central Trinidad Touring Team made light work of the Mustique Company Maters in that semi-final match up, winning by 47 runs and earning their place in the final view scorecard. They faced East Masters who made their way past the defending champions North East Masters by 15 runs at Park in that semi-final encounter view scorecard.

The final, a battle of two undefeated Trinidad teams seemed foregone conclusion when the usually high scoring Central Trinidad Team was restricted to 115 for 7 in 20 overs. Rajendra Mangalie scored 36 from 31 balls and Syed Mohammed 20 from 17 balls. Bowling for East Masters Dale Douglas too 3 for 15 in 4 overs and Imtaz Rojan took 2 for 14 from 4 overs. East Masters T&T could only muster 93 for 8 in their 20 overs. Darin Modeste top scored with 15. Ryan Jones and Kenneth Hazel bagged two wickets each, piling on the pressure on East Masters. St. Vincent and the Grenadines were defeated by Dominica as The Inaugural Senior Windward Islands Men’s 50 Over Cricket Championship concluded on Wednesday May 30th in St. Lucia.

Alex Athanaze, West Indies Under 19 top scorer in the 2018 ICC Under-19 ODI Championship in New Zealand proved himself again, a match winner.

Athanaze continuing his brilliant form slammed a well organised century, propelling Dominica to 214 all out off 45.1 overs after having been 172 for 7 in the 38th over. Athanaze, the ninth wicket to fall, made 101 off 117 balls, 11 fours and 2 sixes. Kavem Hodge chipped in with 38. Obed McCoy 4 for 17 and Casmond Walters 3 for 25 were SVG best bowlers.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines got to 200 all out off 40.5 overs, mostly thanks to a late blitz by captain Delorn Johnson who got 37 from 23 balls. Donwell Hector 36, Kenneth Dember 24, Casmond Walters 22 all had starts but failed to carry on. At 198 for 8, 16 runs to get with two wickets in hand the game looked prime for a close finish but Dominica made light work of the remaining batters. Kavem Hodge 3 for 32, Liam Sebastien 3 for 45 did the damage for Dominica.

Dominica remained unbeaten throughout the tournament to be hailed champions of the first ever Windward Islands Senior Men’s 50 Over Championship.

Mustique Co. Masters vs. Canada Masters (10:00 a.m.)

Mustique Company Masters won by 10 wickets.


The toss was won by Canada Masters who elected to bat, they scored 75 for 8 off their 20 overs. Rick Ali top-scored with 24 (25). Cedric Cupid, Michael Charles and O’Neil Thomas picked up two wickets each for Mustique Company Masters. Mustique Company Masters then cruised to 81 without loss in 7.3 overs to win the game comfortably. Nicholas Baptiste 32 not out off 20 balls and Chadwick Carrington 35 not out off 26 balls. 

East Masters (T&T) vs. Vincy Log Masters (2:00 p.m.) 

East Masters won by 7 wickets. 

Vincy Log Masters won the toss and elected to bat first, they scored 111 for 9 off their 20 overs. Deptor Culzac scored 28 (36) and Kissinger McLean scored 26 (25). Dace Douglas took 3 wickets for 13 off 4 overs, while Imtaz Rojan and David Forbes took two wickets a piece. 

East Masters reached 117 for 3 of 18.2 overs, Halsey Netto 31 (42), Lincoln Roberts 26*(24) and Darin Modest 25 (30).

North East Masters vs. RSVG Police Masters (10:00 a.m.)

North East Masters won by 2 wickets.

RSVG Police Masters won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 153 for 5 off 20 overs. Neil Baptiste scored 60 off 39 and Gosnel Cupid 57 off 51. Roland Wilkinson the pick of the North East bowlers took 3 for 22 off 4 overs.
North East Masters reached 159 for 8 in 19.2 overs. Isaac Haywood 54 (45) and Roland Wilkinson scored 32 (37) top complete a good all-round performance. Elgin Richards 3 for 37 from 4 overs and Carlos Sampson 2 for 17 off 3 overs were the pick of the police bowlers.

Central Trinidad Touring Team won by 10 wickets!

New York Masters won the toss and elected to bat. They got to 104 for 8 off 18 overs before rain ended their inning. Mike Straker and Andy Douglas both scored 28. Ryan Jones took 3 wickets for 13 off 4 overs, Shazam Babwah and Syed Mohamed took two wickets each.Central Trinidad Touring Team were set 68 to win in 10 overs by the Duckworth-Lewis Method. The reached 69 without loss after 6.3 overs. Deonarine Deyal scored 32 not out off 20 balls and Suruj Ragoonath scored 30 not out from 19 balls.
